The Etruscan Tour introduces you to the Etruscan’s culture that dominated the central part of the Italian peninsula a few centuries before the rise of Rome. In the first century B.C. their culture and traditions was fully merged with the Roman ones and their language died out. Unfortunately not so much survived about the Etruscan literature and what we still have today are mainly tombs, cemetery and some objects.
Our tour will take you to discover the most impressive Etruscan ruins still existing by visiting the small town of Tarquinia, where you can walk through the underground tombs and visit the city museum. The old town itself is very charming with the narrow streets and the medieval architecture. A second stop will take you to the town of Cerveteri, where you can visit the famous and biggest Etruscan Necropolis in Europe, known all over the world, called Banditaccia which keeps still most of the original frescoes.
Other than historical remains you can enjoy the view of the countryside and stop for lunch and a gelato by the Bracciano lake and the famous Orsini family Castle.
You can also choose a small detour in the tour itinerary that will take you to the ancient Borgo di Ceri where you can enjoy a lunch in a local restaurant. Upon request, we can book a local restaurant for lunch.
